Wait for it…

Hey Arlo,

Bed rest agreed with your Mom, and your arrival was postponed indefinitely. I was both incredibly disappointed, and incredibly relieved when the doctor decided not to hurry you along. By Friday, they took your mom off bed rest and told us you’d be here “soon.”

This morning I awoke to find your mom baking granola, cleaning the kitchen, and playing fetch with Dexter; basically all at the same time. She’d throw the ball for Dexter, come in and check on her granola in the oven, scrub the countertop, and then return out back to feed Dex a treat and throw the ball for him again.

“I’m having contractions,” she calmly said. But after a scheduled trip to see her doctor, she was sent home to wait for the contractions to grow closer together.

I fully expect to come home and find your mom mopping the floors while jogging in place, or  conducting a variety of other exercises aimed at moving your birth along. We’re getting so eager to meet you, and you’re Mom is especially excited to carry you in her arms instead of her belly. But in the meantime, continue to bake while we patiently wait for “soon” to arrive.

Love,

Dad

The frenzy she is experienced is called “nesting” and the baby will be along very soon.
